Growing Practices

Family owned and operated apple Orchard. Offering Apple Picking “You Pick Apples” including Honey Crisp, Golden Delicious, Zestar and Fugi. We also offer Black Berry picking and Flowers on the farm.

1. LRO utilizes environmental best farming practices including:
2. High-density orchard design with drip irrigation to maximize efficient utilization of inputs. 
3. Many of our apple varieties are disease resistant, and all are grafted to disease resistant rootstock. 
4. No till practices on fallow land.
5. LRO is a “low spray” integrated pest management (IMP) orchard. 
6. LRO utilizes regenerative practices. We focus on rootzone microbe health by inoculating and feeding these important microorganisms. We focus on soil health by utilizing cover crops, no-till practices and plant seed mixes to improve plant and wildlife diversity across our farm. Farm wildlife includes songbirds, hawks, eagles, whitetail deer, black bear, rabbits, snakes, and wild turkeys. 
7. We keep honeybees throughout the year, and the bees thrive (think canaries in the cage). Pollinator health and diversity testify to our low impact practices.
